Property code: OC-L46367

This split-level woodland cabin is set within Killykeen Forest Park on the shores of Lough Oughter in County Cavan, where mature woodland meets the water's edge and birdsong fills the air. Ideal for families seeking an active outdoor holiday, the cabin sits between forest and open water, with over 47 bird species, red squirrels, pine martens, and otters recorded in the surrounding area. A network of paths winds through the park, including a scenic 30-mile cycling loop through Belturbet, Miltown, and Killeshandra. Out on the lake, the historic Clogh Oughter Castle stands on its own island, while the uninhabited Inch Island can be explored by boat. The ruins of Drumlane Monastery overlook Lough Derrybrick. Fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding are all available from the lakeshore, making the most of the area's intricate network of lakes and rivers.

Arranged over a split-level layout, the cabin pairs a relaxed living area on one level with a kitchen and dining space on another, connected by internal steps. The living room takes centre stage, with a wood burner, atmospheric lighting, and shelves filled with books, treats, and board games for all ages. For quieter moments, a Smart TV is also provided. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering meals and opens into the dining area. A private balcony looks out into the surrounding woodland canopy. Moving through to the three bedrooms, the first two each contain a comfortable double bed, while the third is set up as a cosy bunk room. An additional Z bed is available on request for extra sleeping space. Shared between all three bedrooms, the shower room features a shower and WC. Soft lighting and warm furnishings set a restful tone throughout the cabin.

The cabin has its own enclosed garden with a BBQ area and a terrace for al fresco dining. On-site facilities shared with other guests include a covered outdoor gathering area with an open fire, bicycle hire, kayak hire, boat hire and tours, fishing, paddleboarding, and forest trails. A spa offering hot tubs, a Japanese bath, a sauna, and treatment rooms is also shared with other guests. An on-site shop and licensed bar are available to all guests. Parking is provided on-site.
