Property code: OC-L46360

This three-bedroom cabin stands among the trees of Killykeen Forest Park in County Cavan, set on the wooded shores of Lough Oughter. Well suited to families and groups of friends, it offers a nature-focused lakeside retreat with forest trails, water sports, and abundant wildlife all around. From the development, boat trips head out across the lake, passing the ruins of Clogh Oughter Castle, a medieval tower house perched on a small island, and the uninhabited Inch Island beyond. Cycling routes fan out through the surrounding countryside, including a scenic loop through the towns of Belturbet, Miltown, and Killeshandra. Drumlane Monastery, overlooking Lough Derrybrick, provides another historic landmark to seek out. The forest park itself forms part of the Lough Oughter Complex, a designated Special Protection Area home to red squirrels, pine martens, otters, and over 47 recorded bird species, bringing something new to discover with each season.

The ground floor is given over to a generous open-plan space that combines the kitchen, dining area, and sitting room. Large windows draw in plenty of natural light, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere that extends across the full width of the cabin. The sitting area centres on a wood burner with comfortable seating arranged around it, and a Smart TV is on hand for quieter moments. A dining table brings the whole group together over meals. On the first floor, the master bedroom has a super-king-size bed and its own en-suite shower room with a shower and WC. A second bedroom offers a king-size bed, while the third is arranged as a twin, giving flexibility for children or additional guests. The family bathroom, with bathtub, separate shower, and WC, sits on the first-floor landing and serves both remaining bedrooms. Shelves of books, board games, and a selection of treats are dotted throughout the cabin.

From the private balcony, the forest canopy stretches out in every direction, while at ground level the private outdoor space provides room for al fresco dining at the BBQ. A private hot tub sits among the trees in the garden, and a covered seating area offers a sheltered spot for gathering outdoors. Across the wider development, facilities shared with other guests include bicycle hire, kayak hire, paddleboarding, fishing, boat tours, and a spa offering a Japanese bath, sauna, and treatments. The licensed bar and on-site shop are also shared with other guests across the development. Parking is free on-site.
