Property code: OC-L46355

This two-bedroom cabin sits within Killykeen Forest Park on the shores of Lough Oughter in County Cavan, surrounded by ancient woodland and a rich variety of native wildlife. Well suited to couples, families, or friends, it offers a chance to slow down and reconnect with the natural world. The forest park provides a network of walking and cycling trails through mature woodland, while the lake itself is home to the historic Clogh Oughter Castle and the uninhabited Inch Island, both accessible by boat. A scenic 30-mile cycling loop passes through Belturbet, Miltown, and Killeshandra, while the ruins of Drumlane Monastery overlook Lough Derrybrick. The surrounding Lough Oughter Complex is a designated Special Protection Area and Special Area of Conservation, home to red squirrels, pine martens, otters, and over 47 recorded bird species. Fishing is available directly from the site, supported by the lake's clean, deep waters and thriving fish populations.

The front door opens into a generous open-plan living and dining area, where comfortable seating is arranged around a wood burner. Large windows frame views of the surrounding forest, drawing the woodland into the heart of the living space. A dining table provides a sociable spot for meals together, and the kitchen sits alongside, well equipped for self-catering. A Smart TV in the living area offers entertainment for quieter evenings. In the master bedroom, a king-size bed provides a restful retreat after a day spent exploring the forest trails and lakeshore. A zip-and-link bed in the second bedroom can be configured as either a king or twin to suit your group. The shower room is fitted with a shower and WC, completing the layout. Throughout the cabin, mood lighting and carefully chosen furnishings set the tone, with books, games, and treats all provided for guests to enjoy.

The cabin has a private terrace with seating, providing a peaceful spot for al fresco dining among the trees. A BBQ is also available for outdoor cooking. The development offers a range of facilities shared with other guests, including bicycle hire, kayak and boat hire, fishing, a licensed bar, an on-site shop, a covered outdoor seating area, and a spa with hot tubs, a Japanese bath, sauna, forest bathing, and therapist-led treatments.
