Spread over three floors on a Dorset site of lakes and a nature reserve, this contemporary lodge sleeps eight in four bedrooms, a fitting base for two families holidaying together or a group of friends with a dog in tow. Reverse-level living puts the open-plan living space on the first floor, where glass and balconies on both sides bring natural light into the space, and the Jurassic Coast lies 6 miles away. On-site, facilities shared with other guests include a heated outdoor swimming pool, sauna, cold plunge and gym.
The first floor is given over to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, partly double-height, with a Scandinavian-style wood burner and a Smart TV. Glass doors open to a balcony on either side. At ground-floor level, three bedrooms comprise two twins and a king-size with an en-suite bathroom. The twin bedrooms are served by a family bathroom, which features a shower and a bath. Rear bedrooms have large sliding doors opening onto the patio. Above, a mezzanine landing with a glass balustrade overlooks the living area and holds two desk areas, along with the second king-size bedroom, which has an en-suite shower. The patio has a sofa, and both balconies are furnished, one with a gas BBQ. The garden is not enclosed. Parking beside the lodge accommodates one car, with additional cars in the main car park.
Dorchester, the county town, is 6 miles away. The National Trust's Ringstead Bay is within easy reach, its beach known for rock pools and clear water, and the limestone arch at Durdle Door stands 7.5 miles from the lodge. Snorkellers head for Lulworth Cove, 8.5 miles away, while the Isle of Purbeck's beauty spots lie a short drive on. Walkers can join a section of the South West Coast Path, which traces the cliffs and coves of this stretch of Dorset.
