Dorchester, 6 miles away, has shops and plenty of places to eat out, and even boasts the National Trust's Hardy's Cottage, which once housed the English novelist. The beach at Ringstead Bay is 6.5 miles away and Bowleaze Cove 9 miles, while Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door lie within 9.5 miles. The South West Coast Path threads between the two, with picnic spots along the cliffs.
