Grab the dog leads and head out on two feet or two wheels to experience this stunning landscape, with walking and cycling routes all around. Climb up to the Fyrish Monument (11 miles) to take in breathtaking views over the Cromarty Firth. It’s a great place to take inspiration and put things into perspective. Treat yourselves to a meal or coffee in pretty Alness (3.5 miles) after having a holiday mooch about the town. Check out the Mermaid of the North sculpture, serenely sitting on her rock in Balintore (13 miles), with the sandy swathes of Shandwick Beach nearby.
