Enjoy languid lakeside days making family memories at this octagonal wooden cabin on a small complex near Bideford in tranquil North Devon. And up to two dogs are welcome, so the whole pack can join in the fun! There’s also a fishing lake and Wild Spa on the complex. But, it’s the perfect base for outward-bound families wanting to explore the Hartland Devon Heritage Coast.
Entering this bright and airy wooden cabin, there’s the open-plan sleeping and living area, with the kitchen and shower room further back through doorways behind a wooden wall. Ideal for families, there’s an elegant king-size bed and two singles as a bunk bed. The light wood and pared back furnishings provide a very calm space to relax and spend time. Outdoors, you can spread out and enjoy downtime on the private deck, complete with sun loungers for lazy book sessions and sundowners or a picnic bench for alfresco dining, perhaps from the charcoal BBQ, all while enjoying the view over the lake. There’s off-road parking for one car to make things easy, too.
The South West Coast Path is easy to reach to take keen walkers through various terrains. Dogs will love it to, but be careful to keep them on a lead or under close control. But, without leaving the site, you can enjoy some downtime fishing in the lake, or book a session in the Wild Spa hot tub and hydrotherapy spa plus relaxation area. Or make dinnertime special by using the shared Nordic BBQ hut. Hartland Quay (3.5 miles) is on the Atlantic coast; a former harbour, the waters can get very rough and impressive here. Westward Ho! is 16 miles away to the north, while Bude is 17 miles southwards. Both are great for seaside shenanigans and surfing.
