A peaceful retreat away from the stresses of everyday life, this stylish timber lodge offers a superb bolthole for two. It’s set within an adults-only holiday park in the Shropshire countryside on the fringes of Shrewsbury. With its own private hot tub, the cabin is ideal for a couple seeking full-on relaxation in idyllic surroundings. You can also make use of the site’s shared facilities, which include an indoor swimming pool and steam room, plus coarse fishing pools and a dedicated dog exercise area if you’re bringing your pup with you.

A few short steps lead you inside the lodge and into an open-plan living space, creating a comfortable environment for relaxation. The lounge area has a TV and DVD player for cosy nights in, while the dining table sets the scene for romantic dinners. On warmer days, spill out onto the decked area for al fresco dining with countryside views. If you don’t feel like cooking, the on-site restaurant serves delicious meals using local produce. After walks along the Shropshire Way, which passes through the holiday park, ease aching muscles with a soak in the bath or hot tub before bed. When you’re finally ready to turn in for the night, choose between two comfortable king-size bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room.

Head to the centre of historic Shrewsbury, 6.5 miles away, to explore the castle and abbey or enjoy an evening at the theatre. The expansive heaths and valleys of Long Mynd (19.5 miles) provide superb opportunities for outdoor adventure and getting your fix of fresh air. To experience the wonders of Wales, cross the border to the picturesque town of Welshpool (27 miles) for a nostalgic stream train ride on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, which operates on selected dates throughout the year.

A great place for a base to explore the surrounding area. The lodge was well maintained and the park was lovely. The Croft restaurant and bar served really good food and the customer service was excellent. We would visit here again.

The house is clean and well-equipped. The bed and sofas are comfortable, and the kitchen is well-equipped. There's a bathroom for everyone, with a shower or bathtub. The house is large and located in a beautiful location.

The cabin was lovely. The bed and the settee was really comfy too. Most other lodges at other sites have had really uncomfortable sofas but all was lovely, relaxing and quiet. Not forgetting the great hot tub
