Relax and unwind with your sweetie at this delightful shepherd’s hut sitting on a complex of holiday cottages in the outskirts of the village of Bramfield - just 3 miles from the market town of Halesworth. Sleeping two people, it’s perfect for couples who are in search of a peaceful countryside bolthole to call home while they explore the Suffolk coast together. Make your way to Blythburgh (5 miles) to gaze up at the carved angels in the roof of Holy Trinity Church, which is known as the ‘Cathedral of the Marshes’ for its spot overlooking the River Blyth. Nature lovers can watch marsh harriers sweep over the reedbeds at RSPB Minsmere (8 miles), and when you fancy a day by the sea, Southwold (10 miles) awaits with its sandy beach and rows of colourful beach huts.
Take a few steps up to your hut and step inside to discover a snug, charming space, with wooden floors underfoot and arched beams curving overhead. The double bed sits at the far end, where you can wake to the sound of birdsong drifting through the window. Rustle up breakfast in the kitchenette, and then pull up a chair at the bistro table for two to plan the day ahead. For more elaborate meals, you can use the shared outdoor kitchen on site. When the temperature drops, the wood burner keeps things toasty warm. Two lockable shower rooms and WCs sit 100 metres away above the cart lodge, and you’ll find a composting toilet near the hut.
Outside you’ll find your own private lawned area with a BBQ for al fresco dinners. A fire pit and bench seating set the scene for starlit evenings. Stroll over to the covered communal seating area at the centre of the site, and the shared tennis court is yours to use too. Two other shepherd’s huts share the 10-acre site, and each is set well apart for privacy. Private parking is available for two cars.
