Relish trips to the beach and surfing the waves using this chic grass-roofed lodge as your base. It’s surrounded by trees in a lodge complex just half a mile from the spectacular Porthtowan Beach. Newly built in 2026, it has everything for a couple to fully embrace the relaxed beach vibe, from a heated outdoor shower for rinsing off sand to a roaring wood burner to cosy up beside after chilly sea days. There’s also a private hot tub for soothing aching muscles if you’ve overdone it in the surf.
Take the steps up to the entrance and into the open-plan living space. The smart kitchen stands ready for quick snacks or romantic suppers you can linger over at the dining table. You can also dine alfresco whatever the weather on the main decked area, which sits under a protected glass canopy. Later, unwind with a box set on the Smart TV before drifting off for a dreamy night’s sleep in the super-king-size bedroom. In the morning, the invigorating rainfall shower will set you up for the day, before heading out for more fun in the sea.
If you’re new to riding the waves, Porthtowan is home to several surf schools where you can hire equipment and book lessons. The village also offers a small selection of beach cafes and takeaways, while nearby St Agnes (3 miles) has a wider choice of places to eat. If you fancy a stroll, you can walk there along the coastal path, taking in Chapel Porth Beach (2 miles), which is overlooked by the ruins of the former Wheal Coates tin mine. Further inland, Truro (10 miles) is great for picking up gifts and artisan treats.
