Leave everyday distractions behind and embrace a slower pace of life at this hand-crafted shepherd's hut. Unwind by the wood burner or swing in the hammock overlooking the lake - it’s the perfect getaway for couples and solo travellers seeking fresh air, tranquillity and a digital detox.
Take five steps up to the stable door of your characterful, off-grid retreat and step into the delightful interior. Traditionally styled, it features a curved roof and painted tongue-and-groove walls, creating a warm welcome after a day outdoors. A raised double bed is tucked behind curtains at one end, with an armchair and a wood burner in the inviting living space, alongside a compact kitchen (which includes a small gas hob and a fridge) and two stools at a fold-down dining table. Artworks, rugs, ornament and pretty fabrics all add to the inviting effect, while practicality is added in the form of a pulley-operated drying rack for wet outdoor gear. Bear in mind that there is no electricity or Wi-Fi, and limited mobile signal – a great opportunity to completely switch off, enjoying the birdsong and fresh country air. The final element of this charming interior is an en-suite shower room with WC. Beyond the hut, deck chairs overlook the tranquil lake, with hammocks for lazy days with a book and a fire pit for toasting marshmallows in the starlight. On-site parking for one car is included.
Wander through Holt Country Park, just a mile away, or head into the Georgian town of Holt itself (2 miles), where you can browse the independent shops, galleries and places to eat. The sweeping beaches, salt marshes and vast skies of the North Norfolk Coast can be reached within 6 miles, while the peaceful waterways of the Norfolk Broads are around 20 miles away.
