Perfect for a peaceful solo trip or romantic escape, this shepherd’s hut is right in the heart of the Lake District. You’ll be 1.5 miles from Patterdale and 13.5 miles from Ambleside, so excellently placed for switching off and enjoying spectacular scenery, while still never being far from pubs, shops and spots to eat. Challenging hikes, leisurely lakeside walks and pretty picnics are all possible here.
On arrival, you’ll climb three steps up to a set of French doors leading to a cleverly designed space comprising a lounge, kitchen, diner and bedroom. Although compact in size, the space has been thoughtfully designed to include everything you’ll need, including wooden worktops and a Belfast sink for preparing light meals and snacks. At the breakfast bar, you can sit down to meals while admiring the far-reaching fell views, then unwind with a film on the Smart TV before sinking into the sumptuous double bed. A stylish shower room with a shower and WC completes the inside quarter. Outside, enjoy the peaceful garden in your private garden, which has a BBQ for al fresco dining, a hot tub with wonderful views, and a fire pit where you can toast marshmallows beneath the star-filled skies. Private parking for one car is provided.
You’ll be spoilt for choice if you’re here for the walking, with picturesque Lanty’s Tarn just 2.5 miles away and Helvellyn – England’s third-highest peak – only 2 miles from the property. At Glenridding (2.5 miles) you can board an Ullswater steamer or explore part of the 20-mile Ullswater Way, stopping to admire the impressive Aira Force Waterfall (5 miles) along the lakeshore. Spend a day in Ambleside browsing its independent shops, cafés and restaurants, discover the beauty of Windermere (11 miles), or visit the National Trust’s Wray Castle (17 miles) on the western shore of the lake.
