Full of traditional character, this welcoming retreat is reached via four steps up to its front door, and offers a bright, open-plan layout beneath its curved roof. Timber detailing and colourful touches create a real home-from-home atmosphere. Relax in the armchair after a day's walking or watch your favourite programme from the raised king-size bed, thoughtfully designed with storage beneath. A compact kitchenette includes a two-ring hob, combination oven/microwave, air fryer and fridge with ice box, while a table with two stools provides a comfortable place to dine. At one end of the hut, you'll find a separate shower room with hot water and a flushing WC. An enclosed garden with a picnic table makes the most of the panoramic views, and there’s a fire pit for toasting marshmallows as the stars come out. Private parking for one car is available.
Follow the footpath from your door to climb Skiddaw, the Lake District’s fourth-highest peak, or head into Bassenthwaite to relax in the historic village pub. Bassenthwaite Lake is just 3 miles away, where you can spot rare osprey, enjoy a peaceful walk or visit Mirehouse, a historic home with beautiful gardens and woodlands. There are more scenic walks in Dodd Wood (2.5 miles) and around Derwentwater (6 miles), while for shops, museums and places to eat, both Keswick and Cockermouth are within 10 miles.
