This beautiful holiday home near Llanidloes is set on the owners' farm. It’s a secluded, idyllic location in the trees, overlooking a pond, stream and hillside, just a few metres from the shared facilities on site. Only 1 mile away is the village of Trefeglwys; there you’ll find a pub that serves food if you fancy a night off from cooking.

On the ground floor, you enter the open-plan living area with oak flooring, two sofas, an armchair and a wood burner. Here, you can cosy up in front of the TV with DVD. The kitchen is well equipped with light wooden units and integrated appliances. You then have the dining area with a table and chairs that seats four. For laundry duties, make use of the utility room with a washer/dryer. The first bedroom with zip-and-link twin beds (which can be made up as a super-king-size zip-and-link bed), features French doors that overlook the pond. The final room on the ground floor is a shower room with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail and WC. On the first floor, there is a reading area on the mezzanine. The second bedroom has a double bed and French doors that open up to a balcony with a table and two chairs, plus an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, you have a pretty decking area overlooking the pond, garden furniture and a BBQ. There’s also a shared games room, a children’s play area, junior football pitch and a full-size tennis court.

Derw Lodge lived up to our expectations as the location was great both for peace and tranquillity and for the sporting activities it offered. It was really spacious, internally, met all our culinary needs, and the beds provided real pleasure with undisturbed night's sleep (very important). The pond also provided stimulation with all its teeming wRead moreildlife visiting,. During the day. As it was on a working farm, we were able to use all the open footpaths to visit the surrounding villages and countryside and even reached the reservoir by foot. Nearby visits to Machynlleth and Corris added flavour to our appreciation of Welsh culture. We are happily recommending the lodge and, hopefully, will be staying again. Hide

Wonderful accommodation in beautiful countryside. Plenty of equipment, just like a home from home, and really great value for money. Would definitely book another stay.

We stayed for 7 days on this beautiful chalet, surrounded by trees, feeding birds and squirrels on the decking overlooking the pond, The dog was allowed in most of the fields as the cattle and sheep has been brought in for the winter, and as the darkness arrived we lit the wood burner every evening. This is a good base for exploring mid Wales. WeRead more thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Hide

This truly is a wonderful place to stay. The location is stunning, in peaceful surroundings, and the lodge itself beautiful, cosy and well equipped. One of the most relaxing places we have stayed in a long time. Great for dogs (especially nervous ones!), with quiet walks right from the front door. Thank you to Helen, for such a lovely stay.

If you are looking for some rural peace and quiet then this is the cottage for you. It is very generously sized and really well equipped and when the new porch is finished it will be brilliant for muddy boots and dogs. This property is on our short list of cottages we would return to
