Switch off and relax in this chocolate-box shepherd’s hut near Clitheroe. With easy access to the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales, the holiday home makes the perfect base for couples and solo travellers seeking outdoor adventure. Enjoy riverside walks directly from the lodge, or head to nearby beauty spots such as Pendle Hill, Scaleber Force Waterfall, or Malham Cove, all within 25 miles. The bustling market town of Clitheroe is less than 2 miles away and boasts a fantastic array of independent shops and eateries and hosts regular open-air markets. The town is also home to the smallest Norman castle in England. The historic town of Skipton (20 miles) also makes a great day out, with its fascinating medieval architecture, cobbled streets, and 900-year-old castle. From the town, you can hop aboard the vintage steam trains of the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway, to enjoy a scenic jaunt through the surrounding countryside.

The shepherd’s hut is set on the banks of the river, within the grounds of the owner’s farm. A few steps lead to the front door, and once inside you’ll find a welcoming retreat with gorgeous wood panelling and a collection of creature comforts to make you feel at home. Large windows let in plenty of light and allow you to enjoy the magnificent valley views. Along one wall is a carefully configured kitchen area for preparing breakfasts and light bites, which you can share at the fold-out table. On chilly nights, fire up the wood burner and curl up in one of the armchairs for a cosy evening reading your book. At the far end of the hut is a raised double bed with sumptuous linens for a good night’s sleep. You’ll also have a Smart TV in this area, so you can watch a movie from the comfort of your bed. A separate shower room completes the interior.

Outside, the enclosed garden boasts unrivalled river views and is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. On balmy evenings, fire up the BBQ and cook some delicious local produce for your supper. The property has ample private parking.
