Whisk your special someone away to this chic little shepherd's hut sitting on a tranquil smallholding near Ponsonby - where Scafell Pike rises 9 miles to the east, and the Irish Sea coast stretches out just 3 miles to the west. Sleeping two people in one king-size sleeping space, it's perfect for couples who are searching for a stylish retreat to call home while they discover the Lake District together. Set off for the summit of Scafell Pike (9 miles), where you’ll be rewarded with some of the finest views in England, or make your way to the shoreline trail at Wastwater (6.5 miles) to see the rugged Wasdale Screes plunging into the water. Alternatively, hop aboard a steam train at Ravenglass (5.5 miles) to enjoy a nostalgic journey through Eskdale. In the evening, come home to sink into the wood-fired hot tub on your terrace.

Pull into your private parking spot and climb the four wooden steps up to your beautifully reimagined, chic shepherd’s hut. The open-plan living space has a king-size bed at one end and a kitchenette with a fold-away dining table at the other. A sleek shower room completes the interior layout. Whip up some dinner and settle in for an evening of board games (please note there is no TV at this property, but Starlink Wi-Fi for tablets and smartphones is available). Alternatively, step outside to take a dip in the wood-fired hot tub. With extraordinary views to the fells and the sea, it truly is a special spot for a lazy evening soak. In the morning, cook up some fresh eggs from the smallholding's rescue hens and dine alfresco on the terrace - some of the alpacas, donkeys and sheep that roam the site freely may even stop by to say hello.

Head off to Wastwater (6.5 miles) - England's deepest lake – to stroll along the shore while you take in the superb views of the Scafell Range. Or climb aboard the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway (5.5 miles) to experience the glorious journey through the Eskdale Valley to Dalegarth. Alternatively, head to Muncaster Castle (11 miles) to soak up the spectacular views over the Esk Estuary and wander through its outstanding rhododendron gardens.

The property, hosts and location were all amazing. Plenty of fells, lakes and places to visit locally too. Brilliant reccommendations from the host. Very dog friendly and as a solo travellor it felt safe and secure. Clean, warm and spacious. Added touch of welcome pack and use of hot tub were great too. Amazing views and being able to watch the Read moresunset on the coast every night was so wonderful. The animals on the farm were great too. 100% will be recommending :) Hide
