Set on a traditional working farm, this unusually shaped lodge gives you an authentic rural experience deep in the Kent countryside. The A-frame home is surrounded by rolling hills and has space for one or two guests – ideal for a solo traveller or couple keen to get away from it all, with your dogs welcome to join you. When it’s time to explore, pull on your walking boots and follow quiet country lanes and footpaths to the welcoming pub in nearby Bethersden (2.5 miles), a pretty village.
On arrival, step up onto the decking and enter the open-plan studio, where underfloor heating keeps toes toasty. You’ll have a deep sofa for sinking into in the evenings, along with a wall-mounted TV to keep you entertained. The modern kitchen runs along one side of the lodge. When it’s time to retire for the night, head to the double bed at the back of the space, then wake your partner up with a cuppa to watch the sun rise across the fields. A shower room with a shower and WC completes the interior. Outside, make the most of good weather on the private decking, furnished with a table and chairs for leisurely breakfasts and wildlife watching. Private parking is provided for two cars.
If you’re here for the walking, head north into the Kent Downs National Landscape (8 miles) or south to the High Weald National Landscape (8 miles), both vast areas filled with spectacular scenery. Nature lovers can explore Hothfield Heathlands, Westwell Downs and Longbeech North, all within 9 miles, while history enthusiasts won’t want to miss the British architecture at Scotney Castle and Bodiam Castle, both within 18.5 miles.
