Nestled in a tranquil location beside the River Tees, this rural retreat features a fabulous social space and two versatile bedrooms – one an en-suite. Pet-friendly, it boasts a wood burner inside and a beautiful deck outdoors, plus a hot tub positioned for complete privacy. Park and explore at leisurely pace – a riverside path leads to the local village inn, while Barnard Castle is a 7.5-mile drive.

Bucolic bliss awaits – with a wildflower and grass roof, this gorgeous bolthole fits perfectly within the leafy landscape. Park and carry self-catering supplies straight into the open-plan social space; the kitchen to one side has all the must-haves of home and bar-style seating at a contemporary dining table. In the lounge area, sofas are arranged before the Smart TV; the wood burner adds after-dark ambience and huge patio doors allow effortless access to the deck. When it’s time to sleep, take your choice of two king-size bedrooms, either of which can be made up as a twin room on request. For ultra convenience, one bedroom has its own en-suite, while a second shower room is off the lounge area. Take a seat on the enclosed deck area and relax as the river flows by, or lay back in the hot tub beneath starry skies. The lodge is one of three in this location; if you’d like to share your holiday with other a larger party, the other on-site properties sleep a further 8 guests in total – please ask for details.

The Teesdale Way is on your doorstep – walk half a mile to the pub and shop in Gainford, and discover Gainford Spa, a mineral spring that once capitalised on the Victorian fashion for ‘taking the waters’. Drive to historic market town Barnard Castle and you’ll find thriving independent retail stores and the Bowes Museum, a French-style chateau surrounded by beautiful gardens and parkland. Richmond (14.5 miles) is known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales'.

We had a wonderful time away. Lovely location, nice and quiet and easy access to anywhere. The river was a nice walk with easy access to paddle or swim for both humans and dogs. The owner was lovely and friendly too.

Cracking location if you like your walking, some lovely places to visit/explore in the surrounding area. Very peaceful site and well maintained. Perfect for a short break.

Would highly recommend...had an absolutely amazing stay, the property had everything to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable..including treats and extras for your dog..the location was unbelievable such a lovely view onto the river. Would definitely recommend to family and friends and would 100% revisit.
