Get away from it all at this handsome handcrafted shepherd's hut sitting on a small glamping complex on the Galloway coast. With sea views that stretch for miles across Wigtown Bay, its sleeps two people in one king-size bedroom, and is perfect for couples who are searching for a peaceful retreat to call home while they explore the ancient woodlands and arty towns of Dumfries and Galloway together. Head along the coastal path to the hidden cove at Auchenlarie (2 miles) for a sea swim at sunrise, join cycling routes that start directly from your doorstep, or head to the medieval castle ruins sitting above the estuary at Cardoness (8 miles). Later in the day, come home to pour yourself a wee dram and climb into the outdoor copper bath on the veranda. The sea views will take care of the rest.

Pull into your private parking spot and climb up the three wooden steps to your veranda. Step inside your cleverly designed, light-filled shepherd's hut, where a gently curved ceiling maximises both headroom and character. Move through the open-plan living space, where a wood burner, Smart TV and seating invite you to slow down and settle in. Cook up your favourite dishes in the compact kitchen area and share them at the breakfast bar. Afterwards, take a glass of wine outside onto the private enclosed veranda and soak up the sea views. Treat yourself to a dip in the indulgent copper outdoor bath under the Galloway sky. When it’s time for bed, a king-size bedroom awaits at the back of the hut. A stylish shower room completes the layout.

Head into the village of Gatehouse of Fleet (6 miles) to pick up the 3-mile circular trail through the beautiful Cally Woods - one of the finest ancient oak woodland walks in the south west of Scotland. Or make your way into the artists' town of Kirkcudbright (12 miles) to browse the galleries that line the harbour. Alternatively, shop for local cheese and artisan chocolate in Scotland's designated Food Town of Castle Douglas (18 miles).

We had a lovely couple of nights away staying in Willow. It was so very cosy. Spotlessly clean and so well equipped with quality goods for such a small space. My husband and I really loved it.
