Get back to nature in this extraordinary bespoke timber roundhouse on a 3.5-acre glamping complex in the East Riding of Yorkshire - where wildflower meadows, ancient woodlands and a one-acre lake set the scene for a restorative escape. Sleeping two people in one king-size bed, it's perfect for couples who are searching for a back-to-nature hideaway to call home while they discover the cycling lanes of the Pocklington Canal (0.5 miles), the water lily collection of Burnby Hall Gardens (6 miles) and the historic streets of York (12 miles) together. Row out onto the lake to catch some carp (charges apply), meet the site’s free-range alpacas, or simply pull up a chair on your veranda and watch the swallows and swifts swoop over the wildflower meadow. In the evening, come home to toast marshmallows at the shared fire pit.

Pull into the shared car park and follow the path to your enchanting yurt-shaped roundhouse. Step inside through the stable doors and you’ll find a beautifully crafted interior with a hand-built king-size bed, soft seating, a dining area and a wood burner. Solar-powered lamps and fairy lights add a gentle glow. A shared kitchen is stocked with gas hobs, fridges and a microwave for preparing meals, and you are welcome to dine in the shared lounge and dining space. Outside there’s also a shared BBQ hut with a portable pizza oven. A private eco-compost loo is located right beside the roundhouse for convenience, and you’ll find a shared indoor shower block less than 50 metres away. Wrapping around the outside of your roundhouse, a sheltered decked veranda with armchairs and a rocking chair looks out over the lake - it's the ideal spot for a slow morning coffee while you watch kingfishers flash across the water.

Stroll to the Pocklington Canal (0.5 miles) and follow the towpath through the open East Riding countryside before doubling back via the village pub. Or head to Burnby Hall Gardens (6 miles) to see the national collection of over 80 varieties of water lily. Further afield, make a beeline for York (12 miles) for a full day of history – walk the medieval city walls, explore York Minster and lose yourself in The Shambles.
