This lovely lodge is part of the popular Retallack Resort in north Cornwall, and makes a fabulous choice for families, friends and multi-generational groups – and you can even bring the dogs. The generously sized property combines a self-catering stay with a whole host of entertainment options on site including a swimming pool, spa, aqua park, bar/restaurant and shop. You’ll also have the chance to book the FlowRider, a surf simulator. You’ll be well placed to discover both of Cornwall’s coasts, with foodie-favourite Padstow (7 miles), bustling Newquay (9.5 miles) and Fowey (20.5 miles) all within easy reach.

On the ground floor of this striking wooden property is a bright open-plan social space with cosy sofas arranged around a TV. Huge windows and French doors frame views of the decking outside. Nearby, the glossy white kitchen has everything you need for rustling up holiday feasts, and there’s a contemporary dining suite within it. Also on this floor are two of the four bedrooms – a twin and a double – along with a family bathroom. Head upstairs to find a second lounge that’s filled with natural light, with a vaulted ceiling, a TV and comfortable seating. From here, you can step out onto the balcony to enjoy far-reaching views across the resort and surrounding landscape. This floor also houses a spacious master suite with a king-size four-poster bed and en-suite shower room, plus another twin bedroom. Back downstairs, the enclosed front deck overlooks the lawn and has outdoor furniture and a Mediterranean-style BBQ for al fresco dining. The more secluded rear deck comes with sofa-style seating, sun loungers and a hot tub.

Nearby, catch some waves at surfing paradise Fistral Beach (12.5 miles), visit the famous Eden Project (15 miles) en route to Fowey’s cobbled streets and harbour. Lappa Valley (10 miles) is a 35-acre hidden gem filled with a steam railway and plenty of activities for kids.

Its in a brilliant location. The only problem is it needs a new mattress on the double bed as you could feel the springs as my daughters ended up with Mark all over her back from the springs also the shower needs a bit of attention as it is off putting. Of that its a beautiful place just needs a bit of TLC..I give it 9/10
