Enjoy dreamy days of riverside tranquillity at this off-grid, safari-style lodge, where you can truly get away from it all while enjoying style and comfort. Ideal for couples or families of up to five, it’s perfectly located for getting out and about in Hay-on-Wye and the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.
Follow the steps up to the lodge - its elevated position ensures fabulous views. This is the perfect place for a digital detox, with no Wi-Fi, TV or plug sockets (there are USB ports for charging phones). Inside, the lodge is spacious, light and comfortable, with an open-plan living area that includes sofas and a wood burner, perfect for quiet evenings chatting, reading or playing games. The kitchen has a gas hob and a cooler box for simple self-catering. As for sleeping, there’s a double bedroom plus a second room with a double bed and a single bunk above for a child. A shower room with a WC completes the layout. A covered balcony overlooks the river, providing a sheltered space for outdoor dining or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings. At ground level, a shingled area features a fire pit and tree-trunk seating, while the wider grounds include woodland trails, a children’s play park and a cafe. Private parking for one car is included, and although it is a short walk along a stone path and rough terrain from the lodge, a luggage cart is available.
The lodge is set in ancient woodland on a glamping site. A stroll of about 300 metres takes you to the heart of Hay-on-Wye, renowned for its book shops and literary festival. You’re at the northernmost tip of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons), and all kinds of outdoor adventures are available nearby, including cycling, horse riding, paddleboarding and, of course, hiking.
