This rural retreat for two is the ideal introduction to glamping in a shepherd’s hut – but in style – as it’s located in a private meadow with a separate bathroom, WC and cooking hut. Up to two dogs are welcome and will relish sniffing around this enclosed site. Reconnect with nature on this peaceful site, with its ancient oak trees and wonderful views of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. Within the Brecon Beacons National Park, there’s cycling and walking paths all around.
Within your peaceful meadow, the generous accommodation consists of three huts. There’s a sheltered outdoor kitchen with a dining area; sun loungers and a bench outside make the most of the valley views. There’s another hut housing the shower, WC and a sink. Then, the characterful shepherd’s hut is up four steps, with a relaxing and sophisticated interior with wood panelling and a high, curving ceiling. It has all you’ll need, including a wood burner to keep things cosy in cooler months. Outside, there’s various seating options plus a fire pit, all affording fabulous views. Private parking for two cars is available in the carpark at the bottom of the field.
Located inside the Brecon Beacons NP, this romantic bolthole is a great base for the outward bound, with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities. For keen hikers, Hay Bluff and the Black Mountains (15 miles) both offer breathtaking scenery. Llangorse Lake (5 miles) is a great place for watersports as you can hire boats (pedal or rowing) and kayaks to take to the water for a different viewpoint. Beautiful Brecon (5 miles) is a small but vibrant market town, offering pretty streets with interesting architecture plus a cathedral. Hay-on-Wye (14 miles), with its literary links, offers independent shops and eateries, plus a weekly farmers’ market.
