Tucked away in South Devon’s beautiful countryside, this delightful shepherd’s hut is the perfect hideaway for one or two people to slow the pace and get away from it all. Spend days exploring the coast, the moors and vibrant towns, before returning to unwind beside the wood burner or sit on the raised deck and enjoy far-reaching views.
The cosy hideaway is full of rustic charm and has been thoughtfully designed to make clever use of space. Step up and onto the deck and into your bijou retreat, where a cushioned seating nook beside the wood burner makes an inviting place to curl up with a coffee. The compact kitchen, equipped with a combination oven and hob, makes preparing simple meals easy. A foldaway dining table offers an indoor spot to eat, and the raised, king-size bed is built into a snug alcove, with hot water bottles for added comfort. Completing the interior is a refreshing shower room with a WC (no need for middle-of-the-night dashes outside). The deck, which enjoys panoramic views, is furnished with a bistro set for al fresco dining, while the lawned garden beyond also features lounge chairs, a hammock, and a BBQ/fire pit for relaxed evenings outdoors. Private parking is available for two cars.
An ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts, the hut is just 7 miles from the Dartmoor National Park and 6.5 miles from Blackpool Sands, where you can swim and try out sea kayaking and paddleboarding. In Gara Bridge (6 miles) you can stroll alongside the tranquil river – don’t forget to pack a picnic. Walk from your door to the village pub in Tuckenhay, less than 2 miles away, or head to Totnes (5 miles) or Dartmouth (7 miles) for independent boutiques, galleries and a variety of places to eat and drink.
