This tranquil three-bedroom lodge near Holywell sits on an immaculately maintained smallholding shared with just one other property. Ideal for families and groups of friends, it offers the opportunity to get back to nature, with alpacas wandering the neighbouring fields and peaceful countryside all around.

Spend the day exploring the coast (7 miles) or pull on your hiking boots for summits within 11 miles. Back at the lodge, gather around the outdoor dining table then pile into the hot tub beneath the starry sky.Inside, the interiors have been thoughtfully brought together to create a calm, comfortable place where everyone can feel right at home. Rustic, country colours and cosy furnishings welcome you into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, alongside deep reclining seating that’s going to beckon every weary traveller. Rustle up a batch of Welsh stew in the kitchen, then carry it out to the terrace and dine with the beautiful smallholding views stretching out in front of you. The highlight of the home is the fabulous six-person hot tub, which can be enjoyed with a glass of fizz before choosing from one of the three delightfully decorated bedrooms, all of which boast TVs for those long, slow morning lie-ins.

When it’s time to leave your cosy bolthole, head to Holywell (3 miles) for shops, cafes, restaurants as well as a popular street market, golf course and the Holy Well itself. We had a great week at the lodge, it was clean, well equipped, and in lovely surroundings. The children especially enjoyed seeing the alpacas and rheas in the field next to the lodge. Would definitely recommend.
