This idyllic shepherd’s hut enjoys a peaceful setting, nestled amongst the trees of Cropton Forest in the North York Moors National Park. The holiday retreat is the ideal setting for couples and solo travellers wanting to completely switch off and relax, whilst connecting with nature and embracing a slower pace of life. From the shepherd’s hut, enjoy an excursion to the charming Yorkshire village of Hutton-le-Hole (11 miles), where you can learn all about the local history at the fascinating open-air museum. Alternatively, journey into the picturesque market town of Helmsley (18 miles) to potter amongst the independent shops and boutiques, or admire the fabulous floral displays in the town’s famous walled garden. In nearby Pickering (8.5 miles) you can board the steam trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to journey through the countryside to the Gothic coastal town of Whitby.
The handcrafted, secluded shepherd’s hut sits within its own wildflower glade. A few steps lead to the front door, and once inside you’ll find a cosy, open-plan living space that features gorgeous natural textures and is decorated in tones to reflect the surrounding landscape. After a day of adventure, sink into the comfortable leather sofa to read your book and sip a glass of wine. On a chilly night, fire up the wood burner, which is nestled in one corner, to create a cosy atmosphere. Along one wall is a small kitchenette for preparing hearty breakfasts and light bites, and at the far end of the shepherd’s hut is an inviting double bed for a good night’s rest. Completing the accommodation is a separate shower room with a hot shower and a Swedish-style waterless WC.
Outside, soak up the magnificent rural views from the seating area, as you wait for your al fresco dinner to cook over the open fire. There are endless opportunities for walks and cycle rides from the hut through the surrounding woodland, and you can paddle in the stream that flows nearby. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the fresh eggs and honey from the honesty shop. Ample private parking is available just 100 metres from the hut.
