Llansteffan is a village located on the coast of Carmarthenshire. It is situated on the eastern bank of the Tywi Estuary, across from Ferryside. The village is known for its picturesque scenery, with a castle that sits atop a hill overlooking the estuary and the surrounding countryside. It is a popular destination for tourists, particularly during the summer months when you can walk along the sandy beach which stretches for miles and enjoy an ice cream or a bag of chips along the waterfront. The village itself has small shops and cafes, as well as a pub. For nature lovers, a visit to the National Botanic Garden of Wales (17 miles) is a must and for culture vultures, nearby Laugharne (13 miles) is renowned for its most famous resident, Dylan Thomas.

Inside, the single-storey lodge is a light and airy space, with contemporary decor throughout. The lounge has comfortable seating, a TV and a warming wood burner for those cosy nights after a day of exploration, and it also boasts delightful estuary views. The lounge connects to the dining area, with a table and chairs – this is a great spot to sit, chat and plan your next day of adventure. The kitchen is well-equipped, offering everything you may need during your stay. The master bedroom has a double bed and en-suite shower room and provides a relaxed environment for a great night’s sleep. There is a further double bedroom and two single bedrooms. Completing this property is a family shower room with WC.

Outside, there is a lovely, decked area overlooking the estuary, where you can enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the sun go down. There is a portable charcoal BBQ which can be used at the property or even better, on the beach.

I dont think you could find a more tranquil spot from which to watch the tides flow and the birds feed on the banks. There is even a sparrows nest in the roof of the shed which was very entertaining as were the bats that flew at dusk. Its also perfect to walk out of the cottage straight onto the beach and then walk into Llansteffan for breakfast.

We have enjoyed a fantastic holiday at Eryl and found the location absolutely stunning. To be able to access the beach from our own decking was wonderful and felt very special. We loved slow mornings drinking coffee on the deck and watching the tides ebb and flow. The lounge/sun room was super comfy and very relaxing. The Castle was good for a friendly drink and the food was nice too. Inn at the Sticks was exceptional, 'Welsh Tapas', small plates which were delicious. The area was really interesting, we especially enjoyed walks around Laugharne and Pendine Sands plus a marvellous trip to the National Botanic Garden of Wales which is dog friendly on Monday and Friday. We had a lovely week in spite of the driving rain and strong winds. The cabin was cosy and pretty with an absolutely stunning setting right on the beach. Loved watching the curlews wading and the toytown trains across the estuary. A visit to Dylan Thomas home in Laugharne and a walk up to Llansteffan castle were our highlights.
